I understood “one day at a time” today and that it applies to me. For the rest of my days.
Not just when I’m having a depressy time and barely making it through. Every day. I’m realizing I’m sick in a permanent and incurable way. You and counselors and therapists and have told me that healing is an ongoing thing, not something that can be considered “done”. And I just can’t get that through my head. After 6 months of working on my burnout and all the trauma that is a root source of why I live my life in a way to cause a repeating cycle of burnout, I felt better. Briefly. Now, I see myself backsliding, having thoughts and beliefs pop up that thought I had eradicated. And I feel bad that I’m back sliding. But really, I was just misunderstanding. I thought that with all my emotional work I had cured myself to some degree. How silly.
I’m just a person with a fatal flaw who just has to live with it. Every day. One day at a time. For ever.
